Together with the Alkmaar club, we’re working toward one goal: taking the quality of rest, sleep, and recovery for the players to the next level. We’re providing the beds, mattresses, and washable bedding at the AFAS Training Complex.
22 rest rooms at the AFAS Training Complex
Several renovations are currently underway at the AFAS Training Complex. Part of that is the addition of 22 new rest rooms, specially designed so players can recover and unwind optimally. HappyBed is outfitting all these spaces with beds, mattresses, and washable bedding.
For us, it’s more than a delivery. It means a team that performs at the highest level every week will soon be sleeping on products we developed with one belief: great sleep should be simple, clean, and comfortable.
Sleep as part of elite sports
Within AZ’s elite sports program, sleep plays an essential role in players’ development, performance, and recovery. It’s not just about nighttime sleep, but also the rest and sleep moments between training sessions. That’s why AZ is investing in it deliberately.
Commercial Director Michael Koster explains: “At AZ, we believe everyone’s battery should be recharged to one hundred percent every night to perform at their best. Especially when you’re growing, learning, and playing sports. That’s why, starting from the youth academy, we focus on the importance of sleep and recovery.”

That vision is also reflected in the AZ 11 teaching method. Players aren’t just trained as footballers, but also guided in their personal development and a healthy lifestyle. With HappyBed on board, AZ takes the next step in creating the best possible conditions for the first team players: the new rest rooms give them the chance to recover even better between training sessions and matches.
